2026 PNS Call for Mini-Symposia

June 11, 2025 - September 26, 2025

Deadline: Friday, 26 September 2025
Meeting Dates:
13–16 June 2026
Location:
Maastricht Exhibition & Conference Centre (MECC), Maastricht, the Netherlands

The Peripheral Nerve Society (PNS) invites proposals for Mini Symposia to be featured at the 2026 PNS Annual Meeting. These sessions will continue to serve as a dynamic platform to showcase emerging science and stimulate discussion across all areas of peripheral nerve biology and disease.

Mini Symposia are designed to promote dialogue among both senior and junior PNS members and to highlight cutting-edge research and clinical advances relevant to our diverse community.

Possible Mini Symposia Topics

  • Outcome measures for trials in peripheral neuropathies
  • Diagnostic testing for peripheral neuropathies
  • Epidemiology of peripheral neuropathies
  • Node of Ranvier/axon initial segment from cell biology and genetics to CIDP and GBS
  • Metabolic function and dysfunction from cell biology and genetics to diabetic neuropathy and cancer
  • Axon degeneration and regeneration
  • Schwann cells and satellite cells from neuronal support to neuropathic pain
  • Emergent druggable therapeutic targets for peripheral neuropathies
  • New technologies applied to the study of peripheral nerve biology and pathology
  • Mechanisms of neuropathic pain
  • Clinical trial design for peripheral neuropathies
  • Omics and AI (artificial intelligence) of the PNS in health and disease
  • Novel methods to assess peripheral neuropathy

Proposals on additional topics beyond those listed are welcomed and encouraged, provided they align with the scientific scope and mission of the PNS.

Proposal Guidelines & Criteria:

  • Submission Deadline: Friday, 26 September 2025
  • Session Format: Each Mini Symposium should feature three speakers and run for 90 minutes total (each speaker delivering a 25-minute presentation, followed by a 15-minute group Q&A panel).
  • Diversity & Representation: Proposals should reflect geographic, gender, and career-stage diversity. Inclusion of both established and early-career investigators is strongly encouraged.
  • Speaker Commitment: Please ensure all proposed speakers and moderators have confirmed their availability before submission.
  • Selection Process: Mini Symposia submissions will be reviewed competitively. Only three symposia will be selected for inclusion in the final scientific program.
  • Funding: PNS does not provide financial travel support for speakers, chairs, or organizers. If selected, all participants must commit to traveling to the meeting at their own expense. Speakers delivering 25-minute presentations will receive gratis meeting registration.

The PNS welcomes proposals that take an integrative approach—incorporating basic, clinical, genetic, immunological, and therapeutic perspectives—and those that would appeal broadly across the PNS Special Interest Groups (SIGs). Submitters are encouraged to coordinate with SIG Chairs prior to submission to ensure alignment and support.
